The 2016 budget proposal submitted to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari has been declared missing by the senate, according to shocking new reports.
A few weeks ago however,  news filtered round that the 2016 budget may have been withdrawn by the presidency, a claim that was quickly dismissed by the presidency and even members of the senate. In light of the announcement that the 2016 budget is now missing waptechblog brings you 6 things you must know abut the missing budget…
– Senate Leader Ali Ndume during a closed door session that last 90 minutes announced the disappearance of the budget document.
– The Senators were supposed to commence the consideration of the N6.08tr budget today, which is now reportedly missing, possibly stolen.
– Deliberation on the budget which would have begun Tuesday (today) would be delayed until fresh copies of the documents are obtained from the presidency, the Ministry of Finance or that of national planning.
– The Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Danjuma Goje, was subsequently mandated to lead a search for the documents and liaise with the presidency, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Ita Enang, and the national planning ministry on the matter.
– According to PREMIUM TIMES, senators of the Peoples Democratic Party are suspicious that the presidency might have colluded with the management of the National Assembly to quietly withdraw the documents after detecting some discrepancies in them.
-Lawmakers were not present with copies of the budget before they proceeded on Christmas and New Year holidays.
